Greg was an accountant from Colorado and all his life, he had always loved animals. He took care of different animals like the usual cats and dogs and sometimes, some other oddball pets. And he never felt like it was a chore caring for all of these creatures.
But his passion for taking care of unloved and abandoned animals really started when one of his pups passed away. The pup’s death left him devastated and deeply heartbroken. For a month or two, he still felt so horrible but he decided that he needed to become better and that would only happen if he could do something good.
So, he went and visited his local shelter and asked for a dog who had been struggling to get adopted. That was the first time he met a 12-year-old Chihuahua with heart murmurs and knee problems. He adopted the dog right then and that was just the first of many to come.
He then adopted eight senior dogs who suffered from health issues afterward. And alongside his sister’s two other dogs, a pig, a rabbit, a chicken named Oprah, and a pond full of fish, Greg made sure to take care of all of his adopted dogs.
It was no easy thing to care for all these senior dogs and other animals so he had to wake up at 5 in the morning to prepare all the meals and give them their medications. He would then work and get back at lunchtime to walk the pups out and give them treats as well. He also made sure that everyone was groomed and were taken to their vet appointments.
But although he had a lot of space in his heart for animals, senior dogs had always been his favorite. For him, they’re very wise animals and they know who they are that was why it was easier to connect with them and develop a relationship. And it has been so many years since he started to adopt these unwanted old shelter dogs to heal his broken heart. Now, he built a family of his own and he is living happily with them.
