A dog fought bravely against cancer because she still had one last mission to do.
A stray dog named Roxi was rescued from the streets and was taken to YP Puppy Rescue, a private rescue service in Australia. She was in a very bad state. She was underweight, and her body was riddled with cancer. However, her vitals were strong, so she underwent multiple surgeries to remove as much cancer mass as possible.
It was apparent that Roxi was a palliative care case. They put her in a program where dogs who have terminal illnesses were taken care of and monitored closely. They ensured that her remaining time was comfortable and filled with love. They never considered euthanasia because they believed in the value of each life.
They bought her natural supplements to delay the deterioration of her condition. They made sure that she ate the best food so that she could regain her ideal weight. Dr. Prue, her vet, did everything she could to lessen Roxie’s pain.
During her stay at YP Puppy Rescue center, Roxi had developed a special relationship with Pete, one of the rescued cats. Pete constantly stayed beside her while she was recuperating from her surgeries. He would get worried when Roxi was feeling under the weather.
Despite everything that had happened to her, Roxi remained gentle and never lost her caring nature. When a litter of orphaned kittens arrived, her motherly instincts kicked in. She took them in as if they were her own babies and frequently washed them.
The kittens sensed that Roxi was kind and gentle. They looked up to her as if she was their mother. Roxie allowed them to grab her muzzle or climb all over her. She was very patient with them.
Sadly, her body succumbed to her illness. She passed away peacefully. Everyone who knew her was saddened, but they admired her selflessness. Even though she was in a lot of pain, she had enough strength to show love to a litter of orphaned kittens.
